Missions Standouts Honored with EVT Padres minor League Awards
SAN ANTONIO,TX – October 20,2025 - san Antonio Missions pitchers Robby Higginbotham and outfielder Albert Fabian have been recognized with East Village Times’ (EVT) Padres Minor League Awards,signifying their exceptional performances within the organization. Higginbotham earned Pitcher of the Year honors, while Fabian was named Comeback Player of the Year.
Higginbotham posted a stellar 2.03 FIP and ERA across both levels this season, highlighted by a dominant stint with the Missions. He struck out 33.3% of batters faced while maintaining a 7.9% walk rate. The left-hander also achieved a career-high 65 innings pitched and secured five wins with the Missions. His best outing came on April 8 against Corpus Christi, where he recorded five strikeouts in six batters faced. If he continues to develop within the organization, Higginbotham projects as a potentially MLB-ready left-handed relief option for the Padres by 2026.
fabian’s recognition as Comeback Player of the Year stems from his successful return after a 2024 season cut short by a knee injury.He began his comeback in the ACL in June, building strength before joining the Missions in July. Fabian immediately made an impact, opening his Double-A experience with a six-game hitting streak.
The left-handed hitter showcased versatility defensively, playing first base, designated hitter, and corner outfield positions effectively. He continued to demonstrate power to the pull side while also utilizing the opposite field 30.3% of the time. His performance mirrored his pre-injury form, and improvements in plate discipline position him for success in the challenging Texas League.
