Limp Bizkit Bassist Sam Rivers Dies at 48

Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers has died at ‍teh ⁢age of ⁣48, the ⁢band announced Saturday, October 18th. The news⁢ of Rivers’ passing marks ‍a significant loss for the nu metal ⁢community ‌and the bandS devoted fanbase.

Rivers co-founded Limp Bizkit in 1994 with⁤ Fred Durst, and his distinctive bass playing was integral to the⁢ group’s signature sound, blending rap and heavy metal influences. His death prompts reflection‍ on the band’s impact on the late 90s and early⁤ 2000s music scene, and leaves a void in a group currently active and touring.

Durst, guitarist ‍Wes Borland, drummer John ‍Otto, and DJ​ Lethal shared the​ news via Instagram, stating, “Today we lost our brother. Our groupmate. Our heartbeat.” They described Rivers as “pure ​magic,” noting⁣ his irreplaceable talent and unforgettable presence.​ “your music never stops,” the band wrote, honoring him as a “true legend of legends.”

Formed in Jacksonville,Florida,Limp Bizkit rose to⁢ prominence with their ⁤1997 debut album,Three Dollar Bill,Yall.The band achieved further success with Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water, which earned a gold disc in France with sales exceeding 100,000 copies.

Rivers initially ⁣departed from Limp Bizkit in⁤ 2015 but rejoined in 2018, contributing to their most recent album, Still Sucks, released in 2021. The cause of death ⁢has not ‌been disclosed.
