Lidl Laundry Detergent Tops Consumer Reports, ⁤Outperforms Major Brands

BERLIN – In a⁢ stunning‌ upset to established laundry detergent giants, a‍ budget-amiable option sold at ⁢Lidl has been declared one of ‍the top performers in recent testing by Stiftung Warentest, ⁣a leading German consumer organization comparable to France’s 60 Million Consumers. The Formil detergent, priced‍ at just €5.30 for a 60-wash container, ⁣impressed‌ testers with its effectiveness on both ‍everyday stains and stubborn marks like red wine and jam.

The results come as welcome news for cost-conscious consumers facing rising ⁢household expenses. Laundry detergent is an essential ⁣purchase, yet ‌often represents ‌a ⁢significant recurring cost, with consumers ⁢typically committing to a full bottle -⁢ 40 to 60 washes – before assessing its performance. Stiftung Warentest’s rigorous evaluation, involving 900 washes and four tons of textiles, provides crucial guidance for shoppers seeking a‍ high-performance product tailored ⁢to thier needs.

According to‌ Stiftung Warentest,Formil “impresses for its ‍effectiveness on everyday stains, but also on stubborn dirt such as red wine or even jam.” The⁤ detergent⁤ is available in both “global” and “color” versions. Other brands receiving a “very good” rating included Aldi’s Tandil Ultra, ‌noted‍ for its gentleness on fabrics,⁢ and detergents from the dm brand.‍

Conversely, Lenor ranked last in the testing, with⁢ Stiftung Warentest criticizing‌ its poor dirt removal, stating it can leave “a transparent film on white laundry.” The findings underscore the growing effectiveness of affordable, private-label detergents compared to conventional, well-known brands.
