BYU Basketball to Face Nebraska in Early Season Road Test
LINCOLN, Neb. – No. 8 BYU basketball will kick off its 2025-26 season with an exhibition game against Nebraska on Saturday, october 18, at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The contest will provide an early gauge of the Cougars‘ talented roster in a challenging road environment.
This exhibition marks an accelerated start to BYU’s away-game schedule, a departure from last season when their first road contest wasn’t until December. Nebraska Head Coach Fred Hoiberg reportedly emphasized transparency with BYU’s staff, stating, “Just like, ‘Hey man, this is what we’re going to do. We’re not going to try to trick you.’ This will be our coverages and stuff like that. Just so we can both get the most out of it.” The game is nearly sold out, with remaining tickets limited to the upper deck of the 15,500-seat arena.
The matchup offers BYU a valuable opportunity to assess its team’s response to a hostile atmosphere early in the season. For Nebraska, it’s a chance to evaluate its own preparations against a ranked opponent.
