Houthi Military Leader killed in israeli Strike, Raising Regional tensions
Sanaa, Yemen – The Houthis in Yemen announced the death of their Chief of general Staff, Mohammed Abdul Karim al-Ghamari, while on duty. The Iran-backed group implied Israeli responsibility for the death in a statement, vowing retribution.”Israel will be punished for the crimes it committed,” the Houthis declared.
Al-Ghamari was a key figure within the Houthi “Jihad Office,” responsible for managing the group’s military operations and reporting directly to leader Abdülmelik al-Houthi.
Israeli Defense Minister Israil Katz confirmed the targeted killing in an airstrike, stating, “We will respond the same way to every threat in the future.” This follows a previous Israeli strike in August that killed the Houthi prime minister and several other government ministers in Sanaa.
The escalation comes as the Houthis have launched missile attacks on Israel in recent months, expressing solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. Israeli defense systems have largely intercepted these missiles. Abdülmelik al-Houthi warned last week that the group would resume attacks if Israel does not adhere to a ceasefire in Gaza.
