Apple Announces M5 Chip, Delivering Significant AI Performance Gains
CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA – October 2025 – Apple today unveiled the M5 chip, the latest iteration of its Apple silicon, promising a significant leap in artificial intelligence (AI) performance alongside improvements to graphics, multithreaded tasks, and overall system responsiveness. The M5 will power the new 14-inch MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and Apple Vision Pro.
According to Apple, the M5’s enhanced Neural Engine and GPU architecture accelerate AI model processing directly on-device. This translates to faster performance for applications leveraging AI features, including creative tools and games. Apple states testing in September 2025 showed the M5 delivering up to 30% faster CPU performance and up to 40% faster GPU performance compared to the M4 chip, and up to 2x faster performance than the M1 chip in select industry-standard benchmarks.
The new chip also boasts 32GB of memory capacity, enabling seamless multitasking for demanding professional workflows like Adobe Photoshop and Final Cut Pro, even while handling large file uploads.
“The M5 represents a significant advancement in Apple silicon, especially in the realm of AI,” Apple stated in a press release. “By optimizing performance and efficiency, we’re empowering users to do more than ever before on their favorite Apple devices.”
Apple’s commitment to sustainability is also highlighted with the M5. The chip’s power-efficient design contributes to the company’s “Apple 2030” plan to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire business by the end of the decade, reducing energy consumption over the product’s lifetime.
The M5 launch coincides with the availability of apple Intelligence in beta, supporting languages including english,French,German, italian,Portuguese (Brazil),Spanish,Chinese (simplified),Japanese, and Korean. Features like Genmoji and Image Playground are currently available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, and Japanese.
Apple revolutionized personal technology with the introduction of the Macintosh in 1984 and continues to innovate with products like iPhone, iPad, Mac, AirPods, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. The company employs over 150,000 people dedicated to product progress and environmental obligation.
Note: Testing was conducted by Apple in September 2025 using preproduction and production systems. Performance tests are conducted using specific computer systems and reflect approximate performance. For detailed feature and language availability, visit support.apple.com/en-us/121115.
