Trump Extends Olive Branch to Iran While Condemning Past Actions
WASHINGTON – October 13, 2025 – In a speech delivered today at Israel‘s Knesset, President Trump offered a surprising gesture of potential cooperation to Iran, despite outlining a list of demands for improved regional stability. The move comes amidst ongoing tensions and following recent military action impacting Iranian nuclear facilities.
Addressing the knesset, President Trump dismissed concerns about Iran restarting its nuclear program, stating, ”Someone said, ‘Sir, they’re [Iran] starting their nuclear program again’. I said,”let me tell you something. They’re not starting anything. They want to survive. The last thing they want to do is start digging holes again in mountains that just got blown up and start.”
He then extended an offer of engagement, saying, “Even to Iran, whose regime has inflicted so much death on the Middle East, the hand of friendship and cooperation is open… There’s nothing that would do more good for this part of the world than for Iran’s leaders to renounce terror, stop threatening their neighbours, quit funding their militant proxies and finally recognising Israel’s right to exist.”
The Iranian Foreign ministry swiftly denounced Trump’s remarks. In a statement, the ministry argued that ”repeating false claims about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program can in no way justify the joint crimes of the American and Zionist regimes in violating Iran’s sacred soil… Boasting about and admitting to such crimes only increases the burden of obligation on the U.S. and reveals the depth of hostility among American policymakers toward the great people of Iran.”
Tehran further characterized the President’s call for peace as inconsistent with U.S. policy, asserting that Iranians “are people of reason, dialog and engagement. Simultaneously occurring, they act with courage and determination in defending Iran’s independence, national dignity and supreme interests.”
