Laurence Boccolini Leaves France Télévisions Following Show Removal, Contract Dispute
Television host laurence Boccolini has ended her collaboration with France Télévisions, citing a “brutal and late eviction” from her former program and a subsequent contract dispute over exclusivity. The 62-year-old presenter announced her departure in a press release Wednesday, expressing regret over the decision.
Boccolini’s exit follows France Télévisions’ decision last June too replace her as host of the popular Sunday show ”Les enfants de la télé” with Faustine Bollaert,a move boccolini says resulted in a near-total loss of income. The broadcaster then offered her roles hosting “Mot de passe,” “Le quiz des champions,” and continuing with Eurovision alongside Stéphane Bern, but stipulated “exclusivity for its television services,” a condition Boccolini deemed unacceptable.
The presenter recently voiced her frustration in an interview with Jordan De Luxe on YouTube, stating, “I’m angry, I’m hurt.” She also criticized a gesture of support from Bollaert, questioning the sincerity of “sorority” in the television industry. “She texted me in the middle of summer, very late at night. She assured me of her sisterhood […] We have to stop with that word,we have to stop with sorority,it doesn’t mean much anymore today.”
Boccolini was scheduled to film “Le quiz des champions” this Wednesday, with candidates traveling from across France, but she withdrew the day prior. She joined France TV in 2020 after spending two decades at TF1. The immediate future of “Le quiz des champions” is now uncertain.
