JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Four Tri-Cities area high school bands will showcase their talents Saturday at the Bands of America Ballad Health East Tennessee Regional Championship, hosted at East Tennessee State University (ETSU).
Twenty-two bands representing eight states-Tennessee,Virginia,North Carolina,South Carolina,ohio,Georgia,Kentucky,and Oklahoma-will participate in the competition.Dobyns-Bennett High School, Elizabethton High School, Lakeway Christian Academy, and Science Hill High School will represent the local region.
The event, presented by Yamaha, will take place in the Ballad Health Athletic Center on the ETSU campus, previously known as the Mini Dome. Gates open at 8:30 a.m., with the first performances beginning at 8:45 a.m.
Following the preliminary round, the top 12 scoring bands will advance to the evening finals, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., where a champion will be crowned. More details about the championship can be found at the Bands of America website.
