Houston Cougars Lose 3-2 to West Virginia in Soccer Match

Houston soccer suffered a 3-2 defeat against the West Virginia Mountaineers Friday⁣ night, extending their ​winless streak to five games.The loss drops ​the Cougars ‍to 6-2-4 overall and 1-2-2 in Big 12 Conference play, while‍ West​ Virginia improves to ‍8-2-2 and 3-0-2 in conference action.The Mountaineers secured the victory with a ‌late goal from senior ‍forward Taylor⁢ White with approximately eight ‍minutes remaining. White also scored earlier ⁤in the second half​ to equalize after Houston freshman forward Samira Minor gave the Cougars a‍ 2-1 lead in ‍the 34th minute of the ⁣second half, assisted by junior midfielder Kyrsten Kizer.

Redshirt sophomore forward Sabrina Taber ‍scored her first career goal with two minutes‍ left in the⁤ first half, a important achievement following ​multiple ACL ​injuries. However, houston’s offensive momentum waned in the second ⁢half after⁣ a strong first-half performance.

the Cougars⁤ will next travel to Ames, ⁤Iowa, to face the Iowa ⁣State Cyclones on October ​16 at 6 p.m.
