Houston soccer suffered a 3-2 defeat against the West Virginia Mountaineers Friday night, extending their winless streak to five games.The loss drops the Cougars to 6-2-4 overall and 1-2-2 in Big 12 Conference play, while West Virginia improves to 8-2-2 and 3-0-2 in conference action.The Mountaineers secured the victory with a late goal from senior forward Taylor White with approximately eight minutes remaining. White also scored earlier in the second half to equalize after Houston freshman forward Samira Minor gave the Cougars a 2-1 lead in the 34th minute of the second half, assisted by junior midfielder Kyrsten Kizer.
Redshirt sophomore forward Sabrina Taber scored her first career goal with two minutes left in the first half, a important achievement following multiple ACL injuries. However, houston’s offensive momentum waned in the second half after a strong first-half performance.
the Cougars will next travel to Ames, Iowa, to face the Iowa State Cyclones on October 16 at 6 p.m.
