Sivas, turkey – In a surprising turn, Sivasspor’s Greek midfielder charilaos Charisis has emerged as the second-highest income taxpayer in the Sivas province for 2024, according to data released by the Sivas Revenue Office. Charisis declared and paid 7 million 650 thousand Turkish Lira (TL) in taxes this year.
The prominence of professional athletes on the list highlights the increasing financial impact of Turkey’s Süper Lig, and underscores the notable income earned by top players.Süleyman Erdemir, providing engineering and consultancy services, topped the list with 15 million 476 thousand TL in tax payments. The appearance of footballers so high on the provincial tax rankings is unusual and reflects a growing trend of high earners in the sports sector.
Beyond Sivas, similar trends are emerging in other provinces. In Konya, Konyaspor‘s Brazilian player Guilherme Haubert Sitya ranked 12th with 12 million 567 thousand TL, while teammates Alassane ndao (27th, 6 million 713 thousand TL) and Adil Demirbağ (50th, 3 million 883 thousand TL) also appeared on the list.
