First Look: AppleTV+ Drops Teaser for Vince Gilligan‘s ‘Pluribus‘
The first official teaser trailer has arrived for Pluribus, the upcoming series from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan. Released today, the trailer offers a glimpse into the unsettling world of the new show, starring Rhea Seehorn, and raises a central, urgent question: “What the f…?”
AppleTV+ initially ordered two seasons of the ”blended, grounded genre drama” in September 2022, reuniting Gilligan with Seehorn. Production was delayed by the 2023 writers’ strike, finally beginning in early 2024. Pluribus is set in Albuquerque, but Gilligan has confirmed it will exist outside the Breaking Bad universe, with no crime, meth, or direct connections to Walter White’s story – aside from potential Easter eggs.
The series centers on what’s been described as “the most miserable person on Earth” (Seehorn) attempting to save the world from happiness. The teaser depicts a strangely serene landscape, a conversation with an official assuring assistance (“We’re here for you”), and culminates in Seehorn’s bewildered query.
Details surrounding Pluribus remained scarce until July, when the title was officially announced. The show’s concept and tone have been teased through interviews and cryptic previews, including one featuring a nurse withholding a donut - a reference playfully linked to the “Donut-Gate” incident involving Ariana Grande. Pluribus is expected to premiere on AppleTV+ at a date yet to be announced.
