Former NBA Star Paul Pierce Arrested on Suspicion of DUI in Los Angeles
Los Angeles,CA – Former NBA player Paul Pierce was arrested late Tuesday night on suspicion of driving under the influence on a los Angeles highway,according to a statement released by the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred on U.S. Highway 101 following an earlier multi-vehicle collision that temporarily closed four lanes of the northbound traffic. Officers responding to the initial crash reopened the lanes around 10:40 p.m. when thay discovered a range Rover SUV obstructing traffic.
Upon approaching the vehicle,officers found Pierce asleep at the wheel and observed indicators suggesting alcohol impairment. A subsequent DUI inquiry led to his arrest on a misdemeanor charge.
The Los Angeles City Attorney’s office will review the case for prosecution. attempts to reach Pierce for comment have been unsuccessful.
A Storied NBA Career
Pierce enjoyed a highly decorated 15-year career with the Boston Celtics,becoming a franchise icon. He also played for the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Clippers before retiring in 2017.
A ten-time All-Star and the 2008 NBA Finals MVP, Pierce was inducted into the Naismith Memorial basketball Hall of Fame in 2021, cementing his legacy as one of the game’s greats.
More recently,Pierce was known for his work as a co-host on the Fox Sports show “Speak,” which was cancelled in July 2025.
