actor Israel elejalde is currently starring in a new adaptation of david mamet’s 1975 play, ‘American Buffalo,’ at the Fernán Gómez Theater in Madrid. The production, featured this week on RTVE’s ‘Attention Works’ wiht Cayetana Guillén Cuervo, offers a contemporary take on Mamet’s exploration of a trio of small-time hustlers. adapted by Borja Ortiz de Gondra and directed by Ignasi Vidal, the play delves into the characters’ ambitions and disappointments.
Elejalde discussed the challenges of portraying Mamet’s realistic characters and the playwright’s ability to immerse audiences in the lives of his flawed protagonists. ‘Attention Works’ included a behind-the-scenes report featuring co-stars David Lorente and Roberto Hoyo, and also director Ignasi Vidal, providing insight into the production’s development.
