Ulsan Launches Pet-Friendly Tourism Wave with Whale watching, Dog Beach Events
Ulsan, south Korea – October 10, 2025 - Ulsan City is rapidly becoming a haven for pet owners and thier companions, introducing unique tourism programs that allow animals to join in on the fun. From whale watching cruises in the East Sea to dedicated dog-friendly beach days, the city is actively expanding its appeal to travelers who don’t want to leave their furry friends behind.
This push for pet-inclusive tourism isn’t simply about convenience; it’s a strategic effort to attract a growing demographic of pet owners seeking travel experiences that cater to their lifestyle. The initiatives aim to boost local tourism revenue and position ulsan as a leader in animal-friendly travel within South Korea. The city’s investment in pet-friendly infrastructure and events reflects a broader trend of recognizing the economic impact of the pet industry and the increasing desire for inclusive travel options.
Ulsan’s “Whale Sea Tour Ship” operating from Jangsaengpo has recently begun offering programs allowing pets to accompany their owners on whale watching excursions in the east Sea.Additionally, the city operated the ’Dang Daeng Train’ tourist train in 2023, including a Christmas Day excursion to Ganjeolgot Sunrise.
Last year, Ulsan City supported improvements to pet-friendly facilities at four local lodging establishments, addressing a previous shortage of suitable accommodations. This year marked the inaugural “Ulsan Beach Dog Splash,” co-hosted with the Korea Tourism Association, which proved highly popular with both residents and visitors.
The city continues to develop and promote these initiatives, with further announcements expected regarding expanded pet-friendly options in the coming months.
