Saoirse Ronan to Portray Linda McCartney in Upcoming Beatles Biopics
LOS ANGELES, CA – Academy Award-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan has joined teh cast of Sam Mendes’ ambitious four-part biopic series about The Beatles, set to portray Linda McCartney, the photographer, musician, and wife of Paul McCartney. The declaration adds a key piece to the puzzle as production ramps up for the films, slated for release by Sony Pictures in 2028.
The casting of Ronan signifies a deepening commitment to authenticity in Mendes’ project, which aims to tell the story of the iconic band from the distinct perspectives of each member. Earlier this year,Ringo Starr collaborated closely with Mendes on the script,reviewing it line by line to ensure accuracy,especially regarding depictions of his personal life and his first wife,Maureen Starkey. Starr requested rewrites to better reflect the realities of his relationship, stating, “That’s not how we were. I’d say, ‘We would never do that.'” This level of involvement from the band members underscores the project’s dedication to portraying their history with sensitivity and fidelity.
Paul Mescal,who will portray Paul McCartney,is also deeply immersed in readiness,learning to play guitar left-handed to accurately reflect McCartney’s technique. “It would just be crazy to not play it left-handed, you know?” Mescal told Rolling Stone. “Your like, ‘Nah.I like [McCartney] a lot, but I don’t love him.’ That would be the messaging if I didn’t play left-handed.”
