Men’s Swimming and Diving: Wayne State Adds Three New Student-Athletes

Wayne State⁤ University‍ Men’s Swimming and Diving ‍Program Announces Three Signings for 2025-26 Season

Detroit, ​MI – Wayne State University Men’s Swimming and Diving Head Coach ⁢Kyle‌ Goodrich announced ⁢the‍ addition of Griffin J. Damuth,⁤ Lucas safta,​ and Paul ⁤DeMartini to the program ⁣for the 2025-26 season.‌ The​ incoming class⁤ represents a significant boost ​to ‍the Warriors’ roster, bringing a blend ⁢of talent and‌ academic ⁣ambition.

Damuth,a native of Grand Rapids,Mich., born‌ April 24, 2007,​ is the son of ​Rob and nikki ‌Damuth. His father swam at Grand Valley State and ⁤also served as⁣ his ⁤high school coach.‌ Damuth plans to major in Mechanical Engineering at Wayne ​State.

Safta, hailing from Windsor,‌ Ontario, and born September 18, 2006,​ joins the ⁤Warriors as a 2025 graduate of ⁣Belle River District high ‌School.⁣ A four-year‍ letterwinner, Safta recorded personal-best ⁤times of⁢ 57.33 in ​the 100y Breaststroke, 2:05.82 in the ‌200 Breaststroke,25.03 in the 50‍ S Free, and 1:00.18 in the 100 S Back. ‌He served as​ a‌ team captain and received⁤ Academic Honors while swimming for the Windsor Aquatic Club.‌ Safta intends to major ⁤in Economics. ‌His brother,‍ Ryan, is ⁣a⁣ diver at⁤ St. Ambrose University.

DeMartini,⁢ a Farmington, Mich. native⁤ born⁤ november 28,‍ 2007, is a 2025 graduate of Farmington High School. He earned All-State⁣ recognition ⁣in three events as a ​senior, placing ‌fourth in ⁣the 100 fly (49.73), and swimming the third leg on the state ​champion 200 free relay. DeMartini also posted personal bests of 1:55.08 in‍ the ⁢200 IM and 1:50.89‍ in the 200​ fly. He plans‌ to major in Exploratory Science and Math.
