OpenAI Expands ChatGPT‘s Capabilities with New integrations and Autonomous Features
OpenAI announced notable updates to ChatGPT at its Developer Day, aiming to broaden the AI model’s functionality and accessibility. The company revealed that ChatGPT now boasts 800 million weekly users, with a paid subscriber base of five million companies and institutions.
A key announcement was the launch of the Apps SDK, enabling ChatGPT to connect with and utilize a range of third-party applications. This allows users to perform tasks like streaming music, booking travel (flights, hotels, and real estate), and designing graphics directly within the ChatGPT interface. Initial partners benefiting from this integration include Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Figma, Expedia, Spotify, and Zillow – companies whose stock prices saw a positive reaction to the news. uber and AllTrails are slated to join the program later this year.
beyond integrations, OpenAI is enhancing ChatGPT’s autonomy. users can now customize the model by defining their technical skill level, creating a more personalized and capable AI assistant. This allows ChatGPT to independently analyze data, initiate further research, and implement solutions to complex problems.
“This is the best time in history to build,” stated OpenAI CEO Sam Altman during his keynote address in San Francisco.”Going from idea to product is faster than ever before.”
OpenAI also highlighted the increasing cost-effectiveness of using ChatGPT. The company reports a 42% reduction in inquiry costs compared to conventional AI models over the past year, and a dramatic 95% decrease for advanced models.
The Developer Day event, attended by over 30,000 developers (predominantly male),showcased these new features and provided a platform for further exploration and learning. Notably, the Apps SDK is currently unavailable to users in Europe.
