OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha Mavericks men’s basketball team has been selected second in the Summit league preseason poll, announced Tuesday, with senior guard Tony Osburn (Fairfax, Mo.) earning First Team All-Summit honors and Ja’Sean glover (Madelia, Minn.) named to the Second Team.
The Mavericks are coming off a historic 2023-24 season, capturing their first-ever Summit League regular-season and tournament titles, culminating in the programme’s inaugural appearance in March Madness. Omaha returns 54 percent of its scoring from that championship team, led by reigning Summit League Coach of the Year Chris crutchfield, now in his fourth season. Crutchfield will have three of five starters back in Osburn, Glover, and Isaac Ondekane (Kinshasa, Congo).
Osburn, who will represent Omaha at Summit League Media Day alongside Ondekane this afternoon, started all but one game last season, averaging 12.1 points per game. He shot 43.9 percent from the field, 39.2 percent from three-point range (74-of-189),and an impressive 85.6 percent from the free-throw line (77-of-79). Glover, a member of last season’s Summit League All-Defensive Team, returns for his third season, having recorded a career-high 31 steals and 14 blocks in 35 appearances.
