Riga’s ”Euterpe” Guild to Present 20th-Century Vocal Chamber Music Program
The classical music guild “Euterpe” will present “Fictional realities. Stories for voice and piano,” an eclectic program of 20th-century British and French vocal chamber music, on November 2nd at 4:00 PM in the Great Amber Chamber Hall. The performance features the works of British composers Benjamin Britten and ralph Vaughan Williams, alongside those of French masters Francis Poulenc and Maurice Ravel.
“Man,though a public being,is the most powerful one. One with its truth and attitude, with its joy and sorrow,” states the guild.
The concert will feature Irma Cook (mezzo-soprano), Nauris inzer (baritone), Helena Laukmane (piano), and Ivars Vācers (lighting design).
The first half of the program will showcase Britten’s mystical lullabies. The second half will include Poulenc’s Banalités (1940) and Ravel’s Don Quichotte à Dulcinée (1932-33).
