Fresno County Car Crash: Army National Guard Member Dies

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. -⁢ A member of the⁣ California Army National Guard died ‌Sunday morning in a⁤ single-vehicle⁤ crash in the Fresno County ⁢foothills. ⁤David Solomon, identified ‌by friends as the victim, was pronounced dead at the⁢ scene.

the crash occurred around 9 ​a.m. on Tollhouse Road near ⁤Van vleet. California Highway Patrol officers and Cal‌ Fire ⁢crews ‍responded to find Solomon’s vehicle overturned in a creek bed with a crushed​ roof, trapping him ⁣inside.Emergency‍ personnel ‌used the Jaws of Life⁤ to extricate him, but life-saving efforts were⁢ unsuccessful. this loss ⁣impacts the tight-knit community ​of first responders and the California Military Department, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.

Solomon served with⁢ the California ‌Army National Guard and was also‍ contracted with ​Cal Fire, ‍assisting in wildfire response across the state. A procession of first responders escorted his body from the crash site to ⁤the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

The California Military Department‍ released a statement expressing their grief: “We⁢ are heartbroken by this loss. Our thoughts are ‍with the ⁤family,loved ones,and the⁢ Guardsmen and CAL ‍FIRE leadership of ⁣the Toll House crew the Soldier left behind.”

The California​ Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal crash,and ​a cause⁣ has ‌not ⁤yet been persistent.
