Tories to Launch Immigration taskforce inspired by trump’s ICE
MANCHESTER, UK – The Conservative party will unveil plans to establish a dedicated immigration taskforce modelled on the US immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, as Kemi badenoch seeks to regain ground against the rising threat of Reform UK. The announcement,slated for the conservative party conference on Sunday,forms part of a broader “stronger borders” plan intended to address concerns over immigration and differentiate the Tories from their right-wing rivals.
The move comes as Badenoch faces sustained pressure from within her party to adopt more hardline policies on immigration, with polls indicating Reform UK could challenge the Conservatives in the next general election. The proposed taskforce aims to accelerate the removal of individuals who have overstayed their visas and those whose asylum claims have been rejected, mirroring ICE’s enforcement and deportation activities. Badenoch argues the plan is “serious and credible” and backed by legal analysis, contrasting it with what she describes as Reform’s “announcements that fall apart on arrival.”
On Saturday, Badenoch confirmed the Conservatives would remove the UK from the European convention on human rights (ECHR) if they win the next election, stating it was “necessary to protect our borders, our veterans and our citizens.” This pledge aligns with a key Reform UK policy championed by Nigel Farage, who has promised to leave the ECHR and deport up to 600,000 people if his party gains power.
The Conservative leader will address delegates, asserting that her party’s plan offers a robust and legally sound approach to border control, unlike the proposals put forward by Reform.
