MURRAY, Ky. – The Murray State Racers rifle team begins its 2025-26 season Sunday, hosting both the West Virginia Mountaineers and UT Martin Skyhawks at the Pat Spurgin Rifle range.
Murray State is looking to build on a accomplished 2024-25 campaign that saw the team make its 36th appearance at the NCAA Rifle Championships,finishing eighth nationally. this season opener marks the 20th year head coach alan lollar has led the Racers,and features a roster blending experienced returners with promising newcomers.
The Racers will first compete against West Virginia at 9:00 a.m. CT, followed by a 2:00 p.m.CT match against UT Martin. Sophomore Carlotta Salafia, who placed fourth individually in air rifle at the NCAA Championships with a score of 207.2, leads a strong group of returners. Also back for Murray state is emma Lawrence, a 2024 OVC smallbore second team selection who achieved a career-high smallbore score of 590 last season, and senior Paola Paravati.
Joining the team are three freshmen: Abby Ballard, Ainsely McFarland, and Lea Soulé.
Full results from both matches will be available on ncaarifle.org. Murray State will then travel to Martin, Tenn., to face UT Martin again on October 18-19.
