BVB Sporting Director Kehl Dismisses Report of Conflict with Bellingham Family
Shortly before kickoff against RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl swiftly denied a report alleging ongoing tension with the family of midfielder Jude Bellingham. The report, published by Bild, suggested Bellingham’s younger brother was unsettled by his father, Mark Bellingham’s, recent behavior.
Kehl, speaking to sky, emphatically rejected the claims. “No, there is nothing on it. I have only read it adn can only reject it again. Of course, he does not receive it,” Kehl stated, referring to the report. This response comes after a previously acknowledged “clear conversation” between Kehl and mark Bellingham following a reported incident in the stadium catacombs at the end of August.
The initial disagreement stemmed from Bellingham not being in the starting eleven for the match against RB Leipzig. While Kehl confirmed the conversation took place, he downplayed its meaning, stating, “There was nothing else about what could be commented on. We classified it and the topic was done with it.” He also acknowledged Bellingham’s ambition to play more frequently, noting, “He is ambitious, we spent a lot of money. There is no more to say.He is fighting hard, but the other boys do it well too.”
Trainer Niko Kovac, when questioned by Sky about the situation, deflected, stating, “Yes, but they actually seem to want to know a lot… I now see the Bundesliga in the foreground.” The incident highlights the pressures surrounding the highly-regarded Bellingham, who remains a key figure for Dortmund despite not yet being an undisputed starter.
