Bath &‌ Body Works Closes at⁣ Pittsburgh Mills, Signaling further Decline for Beleaguered mall

Frazer township, PA – bath & Body Works closed its doors ⁣at ⁢Pittsburgh mills‌ on Friday, marking the latest in a string of departures that underscore the struggling‍ mall’s ⁢ongoing‌ decline. The closure leaves the once-bustling shopping center⁣ with a 75% vacancy rate, ⁢according to the township’s October 2024 count.

The exit follows those of major retailers⁢ including‌ Panera Bread, Macy’s, ⁤Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Jo-Ann Fabrics, all within the past‍ year. Panera Bread relocated in September 2024 to⁢ a ‍building near⁣ lowe’s⁤ in the Village at Pittsburgh Mills. Macy’s was put on the market in April, and Dick’s Sporting Goods moved to The Waterworks shopping center in Aspinwall in June-just⁢ nine miles away. Jo-Ann Fabrics ‌closed months later following the company’s bankruptcy declaration.

Neither Bath & Body Works nor Namdar Realty Group, the mall’s owner, responded to‌ requests‌ for comment Friday morning.

Despite the retail losses, some property maintenance is underway.⁤ Workers began filling potholes⁤ throughout the Mills complex on Aug. 27, addressing areas along Mills Drive, in‌ front of the former Dick’s ⁤store, and on Fashion ‍Drive leading to Walmart. Namdar is scheduled to pave Village Center Drive from the stop light to Walmart from Nov. 3 through Nov. 6, including sections in front of Lowe’s,⁤ with a planned full 6-inch pavement ‍replacement, according‍ to frazer building inspector Bill Payne. “They didn’t finish all of it, but they got a big chunk ‍of it done,” Payne said.
