Storm Amy Disrupts Travel: Flights cancelled and Delayed at Manchester Airport
Manchester, UK – Severe weather conditions from Storm Amy are causing significant disruption to air travel, with numerous flights cancelled or diverted at Manchester Airport. Passengers are facing lengthy delays and uncertainty as the storm impacts travel across the UK and ireland.
A jason Derulo concert scheduled for February 2nd at the AO Arena has been postponed due to the storm. Ticket holders are advised to hold onto their tickets and await contact next week regarding the rescheduled date. Organizers have issued a sincere apology for the inconvenience. Beyond the concert postponement, a number of flights to and from Scotland have been cancelled, including Loganair services between Manchester and Inverness and Aberdeen. Flights destined for Ireland and Scotland have also been diverted to Manchester.
Ryanair flights have been notably affected. A flight from Bristol was forced to return to its origin around 5pm. later, at approximately 8:30pm, a ryanair flight from Pisa to Glasgow was diverted to Manchester after two unsuccessful landing attempts at Prestwick airport.
passengers have voiced their frustrations on social media. Dean evans posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Ryanair could you please answer a question for me? We have been sat on one of your planes for over 5 1/2hrs after being delayed for an hour and now diverted to Manchester after 2 attempts of landing at Dublin.” Iain Darby shared: “7 hours after boarding and 2 and a half hours after diverting back to land in Manchester the flight is, now, officially cancelled!”
Manchester Airport issued a statement earlier today urging passengers to “take extra care” when travelling to the airport, advising them to check local travel updates before departing. While the airport remains operational, the severe weather forecast prompted the advisory.
