Free Flu Vaccines Now Available for Young Children as Part of Expanded NHS Program
The National Health Service (NHS) has begun rolling out free flu vaccinations to eligible children, prioritizing those most vulnerable as the flu season approaches. Children who were two or three years old on August 31st, 2024, are now entitled to receive the vaccine. Older children will be offered the flu vaccine at school.
This expanded programme aims to protect young children, who are more susceptible to serious complications from the flu,and to reduce the spread of the virus within communities. Eligibility is being staggered to ensure those at highest risk are vaccinated first. Parents and guardians can find more information and book appointments on the NHS website or through their general practitioner (GP).
