Ashley Addiction Treatment Secures $17 Million for Research Expansion & Enhanced Family Support
HAVRE DE GRACE, MD – August 29, 2024 - Ashley Addiction Treatment, a Maryland-based nonprofit substance use disorder (SUD) treatment provider, has raised $17 million as part of a $20 million capital campaign dedicated to bolstering research initiatives and expanding its programming, the organization announced today.
The campaign will focus on four key areas: construction of a new research facility, renovations and upgrades to existing facilities, expansion of family programs, and the provision of treatment scholarships. Central to the effort is the forthcoming Namvary Research Building,which will house a dedicated team focused on translating research findings into evidence-based clinical protocols.

From precision medicine to data-driven care, we’re committed to generating evidence that helps patients and families, and not just at Ashley, but across the field.”
Founded in 1983,Ashley Addiction Treatment offers a complete range of services including 117 inpatient treatment beds,outpatient programs,virtual care,family services,alumni support,youth services,and an extended care program for men. The provider reported total revenue of $43.3 million in 2024, according to its annual report.
Ashley’s commitment to innovation extends beyond the new research facility. In 2023, the organization launched a research program in partnership with wearable technology company WHOOP, exploring the potential of wearable devices in addiction medicine.More recently, in 2024, Ashley expanded its reach with the launch of virtual mental health services available to all Maryland residents, irrespective of SUD diagnosis.
Ashley is not alone in prioritizing research within the SUD treatment landscape. Caron Treatment Centers, a nonprofit provider based in Wernersville, Pennsylvania, also actively integrates research into its care model.
