Twins Manager Search: Top 9 Candidates After Rocco Baldelli Firing

Twins Interviewing Hyde, Schumaker, Albernaz for ⁣Managerial Vacancy

The Minnesota Twins are considering Brandon Hyde, Skip Schumaker, ‍and Craig Albernaz as potential replacements for recently ⁤fired⁢ manager Rocco Baldelli, sources confirmed Monday. The Twins ‍are seeking a ⁢new leader after Baldelli’s⁣ eight-year tenure ended following a disappointing 2024 season.

Hyde,51,guided the Baltimore Orioles to a division title in 2023 and another playoff berth in 2024 before being unexpectedly dismissed in May. Over seven-plus seasons with‌ Baltimore, he compiled a 421-492 record (.461 win percentage) while developing a young roster. Prior to his ​time with the Orioles, Hyde spent ​six years on the‍ Chicago Cubs coaching staff under managers Rick Renteria and Joe ⁤Maddon.⁣ He was also a finalist for the Twins managerial position‍ when Rocco Baldelli ‌was ultimately hired.

Schumaker, ​45, managed the Miami‌ Marlins for two seasons, leading them to a playoff ⁢appearance in 2023 and earning ⁤the National League Manager of the Year award. He was ⁤let go following a 98-loss 2024 season ‌and changes in the Marlins’ baseball operations leadership. Schumaker currently serves as an advisor to Texas Rangers president of baseball operations⁢ Chris Young,sparking speculation he ​could be a future managerial ⁣candidate there following Bruce ​bochy’s departure after an 81-81 season.

Albernaz,‍ 42, has​ been the bench coach for ⁤Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt ⁣the past two seasons. He previously served as the Giants bullpen​ coach for three years. ⁢Albernaz was a finalist for managerial openings with the Marlins⁤ and Chicago white Sox last year.
