Bayern Munich Executive Calls Newcastle United‘s Woltemade Fee⁣ ‘Unacceptable’

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, a member of Bayern Munich’s supervisory board, sharply criticized Newcastle United’s €80 million transfer ⁢fee‍ for VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade, labeling the expenditure excessive⁣ and suggesting Newcastle overpaid substantially. ‌The ‍comments, made during an appearance on BR24,highlight a growing concern ‌within Bayern Munich regarding inflated‌ transfer fees in the current market.

Rummenigge, alongside Uli‌ Hoeneß,Herbert hainer,Jan Dreesen, and Max Eberl, reportedly⁤ expressed discomfort with the ⁢price‍ tag, stating,”I’ll ⁢be ‌honest, when this story with Woltemade and then the demands of Stuttgart came up,I,as well as⁣ uli,Herbert Hainer,Jan Dreesen, and Max ⁣Eberl, said: ‘Guys,we are reaching figures that I no longer find acceptable.’ ⁢We shouldn’t meet ⁣every demand to make someone happy, especially the financiers at Stuttgart.” He ‌went on to say, “I⁣ can only congratulate ‍the people in Stuttgart for finding – let me use quotation marks ⁤here – ‘an idiot’ ⁤who paid that much money, because we certainly wouldn’t ‌have done that in Munich.”

Newcastle United secured Woltemade⁤ for €75 million with an ‌additional €5 million in potential add-ons, a ⁣figure that exceeded Bayern Munich’s valuation of the⁢ player.‍ While⁤ Bayern Munich is currently performing strongly and⁣ preparing for another Champions League campaign, the transfer ⁣fee⁢ has clearly registered as ‍a point of contention within‍ the club’s⁣ leadership, signaling a potential reluctance to engage in similar bidding wars in the future.
