Family Launches Campaign for Intensive Therapy for Daughter with Cerebral Palsy
TARBES, FRANCE – A French couple is appealing for financial assistance to fund intensive rehabilitation therapy for their 18-month-old daughter, angelina, who is living with cerebral paralysis following a challenging start to life. Jasmine and Silvio Montanucci have launched an online fundraiser to cover the costs of specialized treatment unavailable in France.
Angelina‘s early life was marked by medical challenges. Born prematurely, she was urgently transferred to Toulouse and placed in an incubator. Shortly after, doctors discovered a heart malformation requiring surgery, which initially failed, resulting in a heart perforation and subsequent oxygen deprivation that caused brain damage and a cavity on the right side of her brain. A second, successful operation followed three weeks later, and angelina spent three months in hospital before being discharged with ongoing care at the Center for Early Medico-Social Action (CAMSP) in tarbes.
Despite these setbacks, Angelina demonstrates “exceptional courage,” according to her parents. However, her progress has been substantially delayed. “Because of everything she has experienced, she has lagged behind in her development. But she never gives up!” the couple shared.
The Montanuccis have learned about intensive rehabilitation courses offered at a specialized center in Barcelona, Spain, which could significantly benefit Angelina’s progress. However, these courses are costly – exceeding €1,000 per week, excluding travel and accommodation expenses. They have already secured funding for an initial session later this year, thanks to support from family and friends, but ongoing treatment would require substantial funds.
“The objective is to do everything in their power so that Angelina can have a most normal development possible and that she can acquire many skills of motor skills,” the parents stated. ”Especially since she is still very young, this is were everything is played out!”
