It remains his only album released while not incarcerated, featuring collaborations with Barrington Levy, 112’s Slim, and standout tracks like “Bad Boyz,” “Bonnie & Shyne,” and “Commission.” The project debuted at no. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart. Shyne’s subsequent album,Godfather Buried Alive, released in 2004,was commercially more accomplished, but he was incarcerated at the time of its release.
During the interview, Shyne discussed his renewed focus on music following his recent loss in the Belizean election in March, where he sought re-election after previously serving as a member of the House of Representatives. He explained that his political duties had previously limited his ability to perform, with the 2022 BET Awards performance-dedicated to Belize-being a notable exception.
