Diet Coke to Revive Lime Flavor After Five-Year Absence

Coca-Cola is responding to fervent consumer demand and will bring back Diet Coke Lime in October, the company confirmed this week. The popular flavor, originally discontinued in 2018, will return in its retro packaging, sparking excitement among loyal fans who have long petitioned for its reintroduction.

The news follows a recent trend of Coca-Cola reviving discontinued beverages, including Diet Coke Cherry, which returned for a limited time this past summer nearly five years after being taken off shelves. Social media lit up with positive reactions to the Diet Coke Lime announcement, with one user writing, “I crave for all the lemon and lime Pepsi/Coke to be back,” and another declaring it “the best news EVER.”

Diet Coke Lime was first launched in 2004 and replaced by Diet Coke Ginger Lime when it was initially discontinued.Diet Coke Cherry was initially discontinued in 2020, after being launched in 1985. The return of these flavors reflects Coca-Cola’s strategy of tapping into nostalgia and responding to consumer preferences in a competitive beverage market.

This move comes as Coca-Cola also explores new health-conscious options, having launched Simply pop, a probiotic soda with real fruit juice, in February.Simply Pop aims to support gut health with prebiotic fiber and contains vitamin C and Zinc.
