CHICAGO – A blocked field goal in the final seconds sealed a heartbreaking 30-29 defeat for the Las Vegas Raiders at the hands of the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The Raiders’ turnover woes proved costly, despite a strong defensive performance in the first half and a standout day from running back zamir Jeanty.
the loss drops the Raiders to 1-3 on the season, raising concerns about their ability to protect the ball and close out games. The narrow margin underscores the importance of eliminating mistakes, particularly as they head into Week 5.
Jeanty was a radiant spot for the Raiders, totaling 155 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns. He rushed for 28 yards on five carries, contributing to a goal-line touchdown, and added two receiving touchdowns, breaking multiple tackles along the way.
Las Vegas extended their lead to 29-24 with a 29-yard field goal from daniel Carlson. The offense had an opportunity to score a touchdown, which would have increased the lead to nine points, but stalled at the goal line.
that three-point difference proved critical. The Bears responded with a 69-yard drive culminating in a two-yard rushing touchdown by D’Andre Swift with 1:39 remaining. Their two-point conversion attempt failed, leaving the score at 29-30.
With the game on the line, carlson attempted a 54-yard field goal, but it was blocked by Josh Blackwell.
“You can’t expect to turn the ball over like that and win. It almost doesn’t happen,” Raiders coach Pete Carroll said postgame. “But we overcame it because the defense was so breathtaking in the first half making those stops. They were great. It gave us a chance. The score could’ve been ridiculous after the first quarter, but it wasn’t. We learn, we grow and we have to do better.”
the Raiders now stand at a 1-3 record with more questions than answers heading into Week 5.
