Sixth Measles Death in Israel Fuels Concerns Over Declining Vaccination Rates
Jerusalem – A sixth toddler in Israel has died this year due to complications from measles, teh Ministry of Health announced Saturday. The latest fatality, a child just shy of two years old, succumbed to the viral disease in Jerusalem, bringing renewed urgency to the country’s ongoing battle against a severe outbreak. Tragically, all six deaths have been among unvaccinated children under the age of 2.5.
Currently,24 individuals are hospitalized with measles, the majority being unvaccinated children under six years old. Seven of these children are receiving intensive care.
Health officials and medical experts are drawing a “clear connection” between the outbreak and increasingly low vaccination rates, particularly within specific communities.
