Arráez Eyes Career-Best Hitting Streak, League Lead in Final Series
SAN DIEGO – Luis arráez enters a crucial weekend series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Petco park with a chance to secure both the National League batting title and tie his personal best hitting streak. The Venezuelan infielder has connected for a hit in 13 consecutive games, approaching a career-high mark he’s reached three times previously.
Arráez’s current streak trails his 14-game run spanning the end of the 2022 season with the Minnesota Twins and the beginning of 2023 with the Miami Marlins, and also another 14-game streak in September 2024 while with the Padres. His longest streak came earlier this year, from July 18 to August 3, when he recorded hits in 16 straight games. Adding hits in all three games against the Diamondbacks would tie that record. The batting title race remains tight, with Nico Hoerner also in contention.
Arráez boasts a .145 average in 45 at-bats against Arizona this season, but performs exceptionally well at home, maintaining a .307 average at Petco Park. He currently leads the league with 175 hits, surpassing Aaron Judge (175) and closely pursued by Bo Bichette (181) and Bobby Witt jr. (180) in the american League. Jackson Chourio holds the longest hitting streak among Venezuelans in 2025,with 20 consecutive games with a hit in July.
