Alzheimer Nederland Explores Innovative Dementia Care⁣ Model at Kampen’s HBS Complex

Kampen, Netherlands Alzheimer Nederland and Dementia Ambassadors recently visited the HBS, ⁤a unique residential care complex in ‍Kampen operated by IJsselheem, to ‌explore a ⁤forward-thinking approach to dementia‌ care. The ⁢working visit, held Monday, focused on sharing knowledge and inspiration surrounding new living arrangements for individuals living with⁢ dementia.

IJsselheem Director Irene van Blankvoort presented the HBS concept, emphasizing‍ its core principle ‍of maximizing independence and personal control for residents ‌while ensuring access to ‍professional care and leveraging modern technology. A guided tour followed,‍ allowing visitors to observe residents enjoying a contemporary living⁣ habitat ⁢supported by‍ tailored care.

The visit comes‍ as the Netherlands faces a growing challenge: currently,⁤ one‍ in five people will be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, the most common form of dementia. As the disease progresses, it impacts daily functioning and independence. IJsselheem’s HBS complex, housing 44 apartments for seniors with a Wlz indication, offers a potential solution.

The HBS,⁢ a renovated⁢ monumental building, demonstrates how independence, freedom of choice, and technological aids can be integrated with professional ‍care. IJsselheem is proactively addressing projected increases ⁤in⁤ dementia cases and intensive care needs by 2030,‍ even with anticipated limitations in ⁤healthcare staffing.

“The‌ working visit of Alzheimer Nederland emphasized how vital it⁢ is to share knowledge and experiences,” stated a representative from the organization. “In Kampen, we gained a clear understanding of how the HBS provides a safe and familiar environment where seniors with dementia can continue ⁢to live fulfilling lives.”
