Charlotte, NC -⁣ November 2, 2023Mecklenburg County Public Health is launching MeckMoves, a new health challenge designed to empower residents to prioritize ⁢their⁣ well-being. Registration is now open for the program, which aims to combat rising rates of chronic disease⁢ and promote a healthier⁤ lifestyle within the community.

MeckMoves arrives as national health data ⁤reveals a concerning trend: increasing ⁣prevalence of conditions like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers. ⁢These illnesses significantly impact quality of life and strain healthcare resources.⁢ The challenge offers a proactive approach to ⁣prevention, focusing on accessible strategies⁤ for ⁢improved physical and mental health. The program encourages participants to ⁤adopt healthier habits through a variety⁣ of activities and support systems. Benefits of participation include a reduced risk of chronic diseases, increased strength, and improved mental well-being.
