Austin FC Goalkeeper brad Stuver Signs Contract Extension Through 2027
AUSTIN,TX – Austin FC has secured goalkeeper Brad Stuver through the end of the 2027 season with an option for 2028,the club announced today. The extension ensures the continued presence of a foundational player who has been instrumental to Austin FC’s success since its inception.
Stuver joined Austin FC as a free agent on December 28, 2020, ahead of the team’s inaugural season. He has since appeared in all but seven of the Club’s 176 matches, becoming the all-time leader in games played.The contract extension solidifies Stuver’s position as a key figure for Austin FC, both on and off the field, and provides stability to the team’s defensive core.
“For me, Austin has become like home,” said Stuver. “The way that this community has embraced me since the very start has been nothing short of incredible. It has been a privilege to represent the Club on and off the pitch and I’m grateful for all of the experiences I’ve had in the last five years here, while looking forward to manny more.”
Stuver’s accolades include selection to the MLS all-Star Team in 2025, and leading the league in saves in both 2023 and 2024. He has recorded 615 saves and 35 clean sheets in MLS regular season play during his five seasons with the club, and is on track to possibly break the MLS record for most saves by a goalkeeper in a five-year span, needing just six more saves before the end of the 2025 season.

Stuver has been recognized as Austin FC’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2021, 2022, and 2024. He has also proven clutch in pivotal moments, saving two penalty kicks in shootouts during austin FC’s first-ever MLS Cup Playoff win against Real Salt Lake in October 2022, and a U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinal victory over San jose Earthquakes in July 2025.
Beyond his athletic achievements, stuver has been a dedicated community advocate, earning nominations for the ESPN Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award in both 2022 and 2023, and multiple-time finalist for MLS Works Humanitarian of the Year for his work across Central Texas.
