Twenty Former Patriots Nominated for Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026
The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced its initial list of nominees for the Class of 2026 today, featuring a notable contingent of 20 players who once donned the New England patriots uniform. The group represents a diverse range of eras adn contributions to the franchise’s storied history, from Super Bowl champions to impactful veterans who briefly added their talents to the Patriots roster.
Among the nominees are key figures from the Patriots’ dynasty years, including Super Bowl XXXVIII champion Larry Centers, who played his final season with New England in 2003, and Ted Washington, a defensive anchor on the 2003 championship team. More recent contributors such as Brian waters, a Pro Bowl guard who started every game in 2011 and helped the team reach Super Bowl XLVI, and James Harrison, who made an impact in the 2017 playoffs with two sacks in the AFC Championship Game, also received nominations.
The list also includes players whose Patriots tenures were shorter but still noteworthy. Donte’ Stallworth was a steady contributor in 2012, recording 74 receptions for 911 yards and four touchdowns. Chad Johnson,known as Chad ochocinco during his time in New England,appeared in Super Bowl XLVI after playing the 2011 season with the team. Steven Jackson started the AFC Championship Game against Denver in 2015, scoring a touchdown during his brief time with the patriots. Fred Taylor played two seasons in a rotational role from 2009-2010, totaling four touchdowns.
Several veteran players who spent limited time with the Patriots also made the list. Rich Gannon was drafted by New England in 1987 but traded to the Vikings shortly after. Reggie Wayne signed with the Patriots in 2015 but was released before the regular season. Adrian Wilson was signed in 2013 but spent the season on injured reserve.Torry Holt attended the 2010 offseason and training camp before being placed on injured reserve.
Rounding out the list of Patriots nominees are defensive players James Sanders, Mike Vrabel, Tedy Bruschi, Ty Law, Rodney Harrison, Richard Seymour, and Andre Tippett, and also running back Corey Dillon.
The final Class of 2026 will be announced before Super Bowl LX, with the induction ceremony scheduled for the following summer.
