House of Guinness: A New Dynasty Drama from Peaky Blinders Creator

The creator ‌of the hit series *Peaky Blinders* is turning his attention to another powerful family saga with the new Netflix drama, *House of Guinness*.

Steven Knight, known ‍for transforming‌ a Birmingham street gang into a global ⁤cultural‍ phenomenon, is now focusing on the story of Ireland‘s Guinness family and their brewing empire. The series, launching on Netflix this Thursday, explores a pivotal moment in the‌ family’s history: the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness and ‌the⁣ subsequent struggle of his ‌four children to maintain control of the brewery, each harboring ⁢their own secrets.

Knight discovered the dramatic⁢ potential⁢ while ⁤researching the real-life Guinness dynasty. “It was immediate that I realised this⁣ is an incredible drama and story,” he said. He was particularly captivated by “the characters, events and how it all ⁢intermeshed with history and what was going on⁢ at the time.”

*House of⁣ Guinness* blends historical fact with dramatic license, a technique Knight embraces. He believes “it’s often the⁣ true ⁣events that are ‍the least⁢ believable,” and notes that “some of‌ the⁣ historical events are so amazing and unexpected you wouldn’t ‍make them up yourself,” he told the BBC.
