Wayne Rooney Reveals Wife Coleen Saved His Life Amid Alcohol Struggles
London, UK – Former Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney has made a deeply personal revelation, confessing he battled alcohol problems and crediting his wife, Coleen, with saving his life. In a recent interview with Rio Ferdinand, the 39-year-old Rooney detailed a period of intense struggle where he routinely drank for two days straight, even while maintaining his professional football career.
Rooney recounted instances of arriving at training hungover, masking the effects with chewing gum, and then performing on the pitch – even scoring goals – before repeating the cycle. ”it was a moment of my life in which I was having a vrey bad time. But I didn’t want to tell anyone,” he saeid. “I didn’t want to put that pressure on anyone. I remember that I came to training, I had a gum ate because it came from two days in a row to be drinking. He trained and on the weekend he scored a couple of goals and did the same thing again, leave two days in a row.”
when asked about who helped him navigate this difficult time, Rooney unequivocally stated it was Coleen, his childhood sweetheart and wife of many years. “I loved football, but I also liked going out.She lived it from very soon and tried to control; well, don’t control, but help me a lot. I needed someone to direct me.If she hadn’t been there, she would be dead,” he confessed.
