Montret Blood Drive Sees Strong Turnout,Longtime Donor Nears Milestone
Montret and its surrounding region witnessed a prosperous blood donation drive on Wednesday, September 17th. Geneviève Petiot, president of teh Association of Blood Donors Volunteers, reported a strong showing with “55 presented,50 donations collected, and two new donors” joining the ranks.
Among the dedicated donors was Jean-Paul, a 68-year-old resident of Branges, making his remarkable 139th donation. For Jean-paul, giving blood is simply a natural act. He consistently donates three to four times a year, stating, ”I am lucky to be healthy. I come almost whenever there is a collection: the welcome is nice and, in addition, I get to see my friends. We all know a loved one or a family member who has or will need blood.” He actively encourages those hesitant to donate to experience the process firsthand before forming an opinion.
Aiming for 150 Donations
Blood is a critical resource, vital for treating over a million people annually in France. Jean-Paul intends to continue donating provided that his health permits, aiming to reach his limit on the day before his 71st birthday. He hopes to surpass the significant milestone of 150 donations before concluding his donating “career.”
