Tom Holland Injury: ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Production Paused

Tom​ Holland is set to resume filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day ​next week after taking a week off following an on-set injury Friday. The production, a collaboration between Sony and Marvel Studios, paused to allow Holland⁤ to recover from a mild concussion.

The ‌temporary​ shutdown underscores the importance of ​Holland to‌ the ‌lucrative Spider-Man franchise, which has ⁢generated billions ⁣for Sony. Spider-Man:‌ No Way Home remains the​ studio’s highest-grossing film ever with​ $1.91 billion, and Far From Home was the frist Spider-Man movie to surpass $1 billion worldwide. The July 31, 2026, release date is not expected to be impacted by the brief pause.

Holland’s injury ⁣was described ​as a mild concussion, prompting​ studio executives to prioritize his​ well-being and halt production ⁣for⁢ one week. Despite⁤ the injury,‌ holland‌ was able to attend a charity event Saturday for his organization, The Brothers Trust.

Destin Daniel Cretton is directing Brand New Day, building on his work with Marvel studios on Shang-Chi and the Legend of ⁣the ​Ten Rings and the upcoming Wonder Man series. The film⁣ features returning ⁤ Spider-Man cast ⁢members Zendaya ⁤and ​Jacob Batalon, alongside Marvel veterans‍ Mark⁢ ruffalo and Jon Bernthal. New additions‌ to the⁣ cast include Sadie ‍Sink, Tramell tillman, and michael Mando,​ reprising his role as The Scorpion from Homecoming. ‍

Marvel Studios‌ is co-producing Brand New Day with Sony, continuing a successful ⁤partnership​ that‌ has spanned Holland’s previous three Spider-Man ​films.
