Texas A&M SEC Opponents: Leaked Schedule & Rivalries

Texas A&M’s⁣ SEC Slate Takes Shape: Annual Clashes with Texas & LSU Confirmed

College Station, TX – The Southeastern Conference is poised ⁢to unveil the full conference schedules for the 2026-2029 seasons tonight, ⁢marking a notable shift with the implementation of⁢ a nine-game conference schedule. However, the most immediate buzz surrounds the declaration of each team’s three “permanent” opponents ⁣- and those for Texas A&M have already been revealed by On3’s Chris Low.

The Aggies will face Texas, LSU, and Missouri annually during that four-year period.

The selections of Texas and LSU were widely anticipated. The rivalry with Texas is a natural fixture, fueled by shared history and geographic ‌proximity, while the battles against ⁤LSU have consistently been among the most hotly contested on the Aggies’ calendar. ⁣Maintaining‍ these annual matchups provides crucial continuity for both programs‌ and their passionate fanbases.

The inclusion of ‌Missouri, though, has generated a more muted response. Despite three decades as conference mates, a strong rivalry between the two programs hasn’t fully materialized. While the annual games could foster increased animosity, the selection feels less organic than the other two.

Many Texas A&M fans ⁤reportedly hoped for Arkansas to fill the third slot, a choice supported by ⁣both the schools’ shared history in the Southwest Conference and their regional proximity. However, the SEC’s scheduling model involves numerous logistical considerations, meaning‍ not every program could ⁢secure it’s ideal trio of‌ opponents.

Interestingly,Texas A&M and Arkansas share the same three permanent opponents – Texas,LSU,and Missouri – despite‌ not being⁣ scheduled to play each other annually.

While the⁣ Aggies’ permanent opponents present a challenging slate – arguably one of the tougher groupings in the conference, trailing only Auburn’s trio of Alabama,Georgia, and Vanderbilt – the new scheduling format promises greater balance. Each team will face‌ every conference opponent both at home and on the road over a four-year cycle, addressing previous concerns about scheduling inequities.

The complete SEC schedules for 2026-2029 will be released tonight.‌ specific dates for the 2026 season are ⁣expected⁤ to follow in December.
