JoJo Siwa has clarified her sexuality, responding to criticism surrounding her relationship with Chris Hughes. the 20-year-old singer and dancer addressed questions about her identity in a recent interview, emphasizing that her attraction isn’t limited by labels. This comes after facing online backlash regarding her public romance with the former Love island star.
Siwa, who publicly came out as queer in 2021, explained that while she previously identified as pansexual, she’s realized her sexuality is more fluid. “I literally change my sexuality every fifteen minutes,” she told People magazine. “Honestly, I don’t think anyone knows what they are.” She added that she’s now pleasant simply identifying as “happy” and focusing on her relationship with Hughes, whom she described as her “best friend” and “soulmate.”
The clarification follows a wave of comments questioning Siwa’s relationship with Hughes, a cisgender male, after she previously identified as attracted to all genders. Siwa acknowledged the confusion,stating,”People are like,’Oh,you came out as pansexual,and now you’re dating a man.’ I’m like, ‘Well, yeah!'” She emphasized that her attraction isn’t defined by gender and that her feelings for Hughes are genuine.
