CSKA’s Expensive Mistakes: Coaching Failures & Transfer Costs

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

CSKA Sofia‌ has spent hundreds of thousands of levs in compensation payouts to dismissed coaches over the past year, a financial strain exacerbated by subsequent player acquisitions made at their behest, according‌ to reports from Tema sport. The club now faces another possibly costly ⁢separation with manager Dusan Kerkez.

These⁣ payouts stem from a series of coaching changes beginning with the departure of Tomislav Stipic at the end of August. Stipic received a settlement, followed by a BGN 240,000 compensation payment to spartak Varna for his replacement, Alexander Tomash. This coaching instability has ‍translated into ⁢important financial burdens for CSKAS owner.

The cycle continued as both Tomash and Stipic had previously ⁣approved the signings of players⁤ like Pinto, Iseka, Vion, and Jason Lokilo. Upon their departures, these players⁤ received⁢ considerable severance packages, further depleting club funds. Negotiations are currently underway⁢ to determine the terms of Kerkez’s exit, with the Bosnian manager reportedly seeking a penalty for contract termination, as detailed in a Topsport.bg report.
