Support Group Launches for Loved ones of Cancer Patients in Alphen aan den Rijn
Alphen aan den Rijn, Netherlands – A new support initiative is offering a vital lifeline to the often-overlooked caregivers and family members impacted by cancer. Recognizing the significant emotional and practical burdens faced by those supporting loved ones through a cancer journey, Samenhuis is launching regular meetings specifically designed for “nears”-partners, parents, siblings, and friends-providing a dedicated space for shared experience and mutual support.
Cancer’s impact extends far beyond the patient, profoundly affecting the lives of those closest to them.These individuals frequently shoulder immense duty, navigating complex medical information, providing daily care, and managing their own anxieties and grief. Samenhuis’s new program addresses a critical need for dedicated support, acknowledging that caregivers require a safe environment to process their emotions and connect with others facing similar challenges. The initiative aims to empower nears to sustain their own well-being, enabling them to continue providing essential care for their loved ones.
Every fourth Thursday of the month, Samenhuis will host an evening meeting facilitated by two trained volunteers. The casual setting encourages open sharing, allowing participants to find recognition and learn coping strategies from peers. Organizers emphasize that even minimal conversation can foster a powerful sense of understanding within the group.
The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 25, from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Samenhuis, located at Grebbeberg 68, 2402 Ze Alphen aan den Rijn. Advance registration via the Samenhuis website agenda is required. Coffee will be provided.
