West Bladen High School delivered a dominant performance Friday night, crushing Union High School 32-6. The victory boosts West Bladen’s record to 2-3 as thay prepare for conference play, while Union falls to 2-2.
The Knights took control of the game with a strong rushing attack and a stingy defence. West Bladen’s offense found success early, and continued to build momentum throughout the contest.This win provides a crucial confidence boost for West Bladen as they enter the more competitive Southeastern Conference schedule.
Early in the fourth period, the Spartans scored on a 10-yard run by Derik Aycock, narrowing the west Bladen lead to 20-6. West Bladen quickly responded with another touchdown from Ahmarie White, this time a nine-yard run, extending the lead to 26-6 after a failed PAT. Isaiah Robinson added another score for the Knights with a seven-yard run, finalizing the 32-6 margin.
“It was a great win,” stated West Bladen coach preston Worley. “We have a lot to improve on and get better at. We have become more fundamentally sound on offensive and defensive before conference play starts. We struggled early on and faced some adversity, but we rallied together and settled down and got the job done.”
West Bladen’s defense limited Union to just 148 yards of total offense. The Knights’ rushing attack proved potent, totaling 305 yards. Sincere mckinley led all rushers with 168 yards on eight carries, while Ahmarie White contributed 79 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries.Isaiah Robinson added 66 yards and a touchdown. Union was led by Tobias Cromartie, who gained 85 yards on 18 carries.
West Bladen (2-3) will travel to Whiteville (3-2) next week for the Southeastern Conference opener for both teams. Union (2-2) will travel to Lake Waccamaw to face east Columbus on Sept. 26.
