Deutsche Bahn Names Evelyn Palla as New Head of Passenger Service
Berlin – Deutsche Bahn has appointed Evelyn Palla as its new head of passenger service, effective immediately. The move comes as the German rail operator faces ongoing scrutiny over delays, cancellations, and rising ticket prices. Palla, currently a member of the DB board responsible for marketing, will oversee all aspects of passenger operations, including long-distance, regional, and local transport.
This appointment marks a significant shift for Deutsche Bahn as it attempts to address widespread dissatisfaction with its services. Millions of daily commuters and travelers rely on the rail network, and recent performance has fallen short of expectations, prompting calls for considerable improvements. Palla’s role will be critical in implementing strategies to enhance punctuality, modernize infrastructure, and improve the overall passenger experience. The appointment follows recent debate surrounding the leadership of CEO Richard Lutz, though he remains in his position.
Palla brings extensive experience to the role, having previously held leadership positions at Porsche and Volkswagen. She joined Deutsche Bahn in 2023.
A correction has been issued regarding a previous report: Evelyn palla is Italian, not Austrian, as previously stated.
